Fitting correctly is a specialist skill and as we
are unable to be with you at this time we want to be sure that you have the
best chance of enjoying your choice.
There are a number of simple ways in which fit
can be enhanced so you may wish to experiment with lacing methods, sock
thickness, or even insoles. Shoes and boots can even be stretched to fit
around abnormalities such as bunions and bone spurs. If you should require
help with the fit please do not hesitate to call our boot fitters on 01228
Additionally we may be able to recommend
alternative styles of footwear. These choices can be wider or narrower and in
half UK sizes.
Unique conditions of fit apply to rock boots.
Generally a tight fit is more acceptable for performance climbing and some
degree of stretch is to be expected.
Ø Put the boot or shoe on with a thin sock.
It is better to try boots on after you have been on your feet for a few
hours. Check the amount of space around the foot. You should be able to move
your foot from side to side about 4mm and from front to back about 10mm.
Ø Select a sock thickness that will fill
the side to side space.
Ø Lace up neat but not tight. If the lacing
at the top of the boot is too tight you can miss out the top hooks,
Ø Walk around indoors on carpet. New boots
are a little stiffer and will break in. Because of this initial stiffness you
may experience a little heel lift.
Ø If in doubt give us a call on 01228
